European commissioner of research to visit Morocco

European Commissioner of Research, Philippe Busquin, will visit Morocco May 26-27 to probe scientific and technologic cooperation between the kingdom and the EU.

The European party hopes the agreement on scientific and technologic cooperation, initialed April 24 and currently being finalized, will be signed during the visit, a European spokesperson told MAP news agency.

The agreements provides for an innovative framework that will integrate Morocco in the European scientific research sphere, and boost cooperation between Moroccan and European scientific communities.

The accord revolves around four main themes: Promotion of knowledge society, reciprocal access to scientific and technological development research programs, information trading and regular contacts between researchers.

Concretizing this important agreement will be under focus during the European commissioner's talks with Moroccan delegate minister of scientific research, Omar Fassi Fihri, and with Moroccan academics and scientists, the spokesperson said.
