Saturday, 16th : Ouarzazate - M’hamid
In the morning, you will drive on 4WD from your hotel in Ouarzazate to the direction of Agdez through the Tizi-n-Tinfifte pass. After Agdez you will drive to the Old Ksar of Tamnougalt to visit its old Kasbah. After the short visit you will starts the track of Tamnougalt, crossing many fortified villages and green oases on the left side of the Drâa River. The Drâa valley in a continuation of thousands of palm trees (first production of palm fruits in Morocco). You will stop for lunch in Zagora (where you can see the famous panel Tomboctou 52 days by camel!) and then drive towards the last village of M’Hamid before the desert. When you arrive to M’Hamid you will either walk for about one hour and a half through the last palm grove of the Draa Valley to join “Le Petit Prince” camp, or your 4WD will take you directly to the camp. Welcome tea when you arrive to the camp, then you will enjoy the sunset on the dunes near to the camp. Diner and over night in a nomadic tent in the camp.
Sunday, 17th: Day trekking in the desert:
After enjoying the sunrise over the dunes near to the camp, and the breakfast, you will start you trekking towards the desert by either riding camels or by walking through the dunes and the plateau of the Hamada du Draa. Nomadic lunch on your way, then return on the afternoon to the camp for your second night. Diner and overnight on the camp.
Monday, 18th : « Le Petit Prince » camp – M’Hamid – Tamgroute – Ouarzazate
After you breakfast, and before taking the road back to Ouarzazate, you will walk to visit the Old Ksar of M’Hamid and Ouled Mhia palm grove. Then continue to Tamgroute to visit the Koranic Library and the manufacture of pottery, and the underground streets of the old village of Tamgroute. From Zagora you will head all the Draa Valley by road followed by a trail through Ouled Atman and Tansikht in order to discover new landscapes. You will stop for lunch in Agdez then continue to Ouarzazate to join your hotel by the end of the afternoon.
